Thinking about it, that was on the Shropshire part of the A49, so the whole thing may well have been an illusion. As for the camping - we drove around the area and couldn't see any fields or gates into fields that looked remotely camplike. We're not exactly wild campers (with a table borrowed from Clare P, a normal duvet instead of sleeping bags, and bone china tea mugs, more like a mobile Terry and June) so a Swampy-like incursion onto the landscape wasn't really on the cards.
